This is a premium hand built (vs machines compressed) Fu Brick produced in 2014 in the area of An-Hua. The brick has had many years of natural fermentation, producing the unique Fu Brick characteristic of Jing Hua (Golden flower). It brew is aromatic, smooth and mellowing.
Many Fu bricks are machine compressed these days, due to the higher production output and lower labour cost. The advantage of hand building Fu Bricks is however it allows the manual control of the density of the bricks. Jin-Hua (金花 - golden flower) is a unique feature of the Fu Bricks - the growth of a health beneficial bacteria Eurotium cristatum during their post-fermentation. The space in between the leaves (or the density of a brick) is crucial for its development and it is believed a hand built brick has a unique advantage in this regard, thus better taste and quality of the tea brew.
