Liu-An Gua Pian, Gua Pian, Mellon Seed, 六安瓜片
Liuan Leaf has a production history in China of less than 1000 years. It is produced in the AnHui Province of China, in the Da-Bie Mountain Range. Liuan Leaf is named after its original cultivation region 'Liu-An'. The area is still producing the best quality Liuan Leaf today.
Unlike other premium Chinese green teas, there are a couple of unique characteristics to the leaves used for Liuan Leaf green tea. Only the second leaf beneath the bud, and not including the bud leaf, is selected; and only the leaves but no stem, not even the stem of the picked leaf, are used. Its baking technique is also unique: using a cast-iron wok, fern brush and charcoal and baking repeatedly, many times over.
Liuan Leaf’s dry leaves are rich dark green. Its brew is a bright, light green in colour, has a smooth texture and elegant and long-lasting aroma and after taste. Its high anti-oxidant content yields many health benefits, including lowering of cholesterol levels, anti-obesity properties, anti-inflammatory agents and cancer prevention.
