This is a premium Enshi Yulu, one of the few steam processed green teas still produced in China. The tea is processed in tight needle shape. It has a grassy orchid aroma with an intense refreshing aftertaste.
Enshi Yulu is listed as one of the top ten Chinese teas. It is similar to some of the Japanese steamed green teas with the natural green flavor, and in absence of the roasted green teas nutty flavor.
The Enshi (恩施) area of the Hubei province in central China is known for its high level of natural Selenium deposit in the soil. Selenium is an important element for various human anti-oxidization enzymes. It is also a bio-chemical compounds for maintaining some crucial metabolic functions. The Enshi green teas are therefore often know as 'Selenium rich green teas'.
