Jasmine scented green tea - a unique green tea from China

Traditionally, premium Chinese green teas are not blended to maintain their purity and uniqueness - similar to premium wines. Jasmine tea however is however and exception. The sweet and elegant fragrance of jasmine blossom has been acknowledged to enhance and preserve various teas, as well as adding a special touch of a natural fragrance. Jasmine scented teas as a family has earned it unique place on the premium Chinese tea platform with it own right and glory.

How our fine Jasmine green tea and Jasmine black teas are made

Jasmine tea production is labour intensive and occurs during mid summer when Jasmine flowers are blooming:

  1. Green tea or black tea use to make the jasmine tea are pre-prepared.
  2. Jasmine flowers are harvested during their harvest season under strict conditions: only the pre-opened flower buds are harvested (already open blossom have already released their perfume, therefore not desirable); the harvesting takes place only in the afternoon under the sunny weather condition, and not within 3 days after a rain.
  3. Jasmine blossoms are then spread in the shade and turned over regularly to make sure the blossoms are in their prime conditions for later use at night (which is to open fully and release the maximum amount of perfume).
  4. Jasmine blossoms are then mixed with the dry green tea or black tea during the night, temperature carefully controlled and constantly adjusted by turning over the mixture of tea and jasmine blossoms mixture (up to 9 times). This process continues throughout the whole night. (Jasmine season is the sleepless season for the jasmine tea masters.)
  5. The dry tea leaves can soak up to 20% of the moisture released by the fresh jasmine blossoms during the process and become soft and moistened. The tea leave are then baked again to reduce the moisture to the normal level (less than 10%), with Jasmine perfume locked away in the tea leaves.

The product is a tea enchanted by the elegant jasmine aroma, in addition to the refreshing aftertaste of a green tea or smooth texture of a black tea.
