Yunnan Golden Snail | Dian Hong Chinese Black Tea
Yunnan Golden Snail — Premium Dian Hong Black Tea
Also known as: Golden Snail, Yunnan Golden Tip, Jin Luo, Dian Hong Golden Snail, 滇红金螺
Yunnan Golden Snail is one of the finer types of Dian Hong — Yunnan black tea — and its calling card is simple: honey.
Rich honey aroma, honey-sweet taste, the works.
Each leaf is rolled into a tight golden spiral, like a little snail shell, dusted all over with fine golden down. One of the prettiest black teas we carry, and one of the sweetest.
What Is Yunnan Golden Snail Dian Hong?
Dian Hong — "Yunnan red" — is one of the great families of Chinese black tea. It's a huge category in its own right, covering all sorts of styles, from everyday golden blacks to rare ancient-tree teas, all grown on Yunnan's big-leaf tea trees.
Golden Snail is one of its more prized styles — and this one we've hand-picked ourselves. The name is all about the shape: instead of straight strips, the tender buds and leaves are rolled into tight little spirals — jin luo, "golden snail" — packed with golden down. More buds, more down, more care: that's what sets it apart.
Yunnan Golden Snail Taste & Aroma
This is a tea that leads with sweetness.
The aroma is deep and lasting — honey and ripe fruit woven together, the kind of scent that rushes up as you sip and still lingers at the bottom of an empty cup. The taste follows through: smooth, honey-sweet, with a clear returning sweetness and just enough body to feel rich. Any brightness on the first sip melts into sweetness almost at once.
It pours a bright, clear orange-red — and it's the sort of easy, moreish cup that quietly becomes a daily favourite.

The Best Teapot for Dian Hong: Yixing Zisha
A rich, honey-sweet black tea like this belongs in a Yixing Zisha teapot.
The unglazed clay holds the heat and rounds out all that honey-and-fruit depth — a fuller, mellower cup than porcelain can give.
