Longjing Tea (Dragon Well Green Tea):

Alternative names: Long Jing, Lung Ching, longjing tea, longjing green tea, long jing tea, dragon well tea

Dragon Well (Long Jing):

The King of Chinese Green Tea

Crowned at the top of China's 10 Famous Teas,

Dragon Well (Long Jing) is the undisputed King of Green Tea.

For those seeking pure, unadulterated freshness, or searching for authentic Longjing tea in Australia,

this represents the gold standard of premium Dragon Well loose leaf green tea and one of the most iconic examples of Chinese loose leaf tea.

It serves as a perfect "Reset Button"-

the tea to reach for whenever there is a need to clear the mind and reconnect with the beauty of life.

While famous for its classic toasted, nutty bean aroma, this specific batch carries a subtle, lingering note of wild orchid.

To drink Long Jing is to experience the sheer vibrancy of early spring-

it is clean, bright, and incredibly revitalizing.

If you are exploring more traditional Chinese green tea, Longjing is usually the clean, crisp benchmark to start from.

To understand its character, compare it to another famous Green Tea:

Bi Luo Chun: If Bi Luo Chun is lush, velvety, and mellow (the "softer" side of green tea),

then Long Jing is defined by its structure. It is clean-cut, crisp, and refreshingly lean.

It doesn't overwhelm the palate with weight; it captivates with its sharp, spirited finish.

For a different expression of the same famous tea, you can also compare it with our Organic Dragon Well Longjing tea.

🍵 Brewing Guide

How to Brew Dragon Well Tea Perfectly

To truly appreciate the King of Green Teas, precision is key.

The Vessel: Beauty vs Precision

  • The Tall Glass: Perfect for witnessing the "Jade Dance" as leaves spiral in the water, but risks over-steeping, which leads to bitterness.

  • The Gaiwan: Offers expert control to retain delicate aromas, yet hides the visual performance of the leaves.

  • Our Recommendation: To get the best of both worlds, we highly recommend our [Glass Tea Infuser]. It allows you to watch the leaves gracefully dance while ensuring instant leaf-water separation for a perfectly crisp, sweet brew.

Follow this 5-step ritual for the perfect cup:

  • Temperature: 80°C -85°C only. Never use boiling water; it will "scald" the delicate leaves and ruin the aroma.

Step 1 – Warm the Soul:

Rinse the vessel with hot water and discard.

Step 2 – The Inhale:

Add dry leaves (3g–4g), shake gently, and inhale the deep bean fragrance.

Step 3 – The Awakening:

Add just enough water to barely cover the leaves, swirl for 5 seconds to awaken the essence.

Step 4 – The Infusion:

Pour water against the inner wall (avoid direct impact),
as a harsh stream of water will "bruise" the tender buds, releasing unwanted bitterness and clouding the crisp flavor. Let the water gracefully fill the cup, and watch the leaves perform their "Jade Dance."

Step 5 – Timing:

1st brew (5s), since the leaves have already been "awakened" in Step 3

2nd brew (10–15s). The tea peaks at the 2nd infusion.

3rd brew (20-30s). The peak continues

Subsequent brews: Simply add an extra 15–20 seconds for each additional steep. Our premium Long Jing can easily yield 4 to 5 delicious cups.

Master's Tip:

Always leave the lid off after each pour. Smothering the leaves will "cook" them, making the next steep dull.

📦 Storage & Care

Protecting the Freshness

Green tea is delicate and acts like a "sponge" for odors.

Proper storage is non-negotiable for maintaining that vibrant, spring character:

  • The Fridge is Best:

To maintain the vibrant color and nutty flavor, we recommend storing your tea in the refrigerator.

  • Airtight Seal:

Ensure the bag is perfectly sealed. We highly recommend using our [Tea Bag Sealer] to lock out moisture and persistent fridge odors.

  • The Golden Rule (Crucial):

When removing tea from the fridge, wait a while before opening the bag. Allowing the leaves to reach room temperature prevents condensation from forming on the leaves, which would ruin the tea instantly.

🌿 The Origins

18 Years of Sourcing Excellence

  • Location: Sourced from the mist-covered heartland of Zhejiang Province, a region defined by its mineral-rich soil and perfect tea-growing climate.
  • Craftsmanship: Defined by the traditional "Pan-firing" technique, where every leaf is hand-pressed against a hot wok to create its unique flat shape and toasted aroma.
  • VGT Sourcing: For 18 years, Valley Green Tea has been the trusted destination to buy high-quality Chinese green tea online. We select only the harvests that capture the true "bones" and character of authentic Long Jing.

The Truth About Long Jing Pricing

The Long Jing market is notoriously complex, with prices ranging from a few dollars to thousands per kilo.

The reality of the tea industry is this:

while a sky-high price tag doesn't always guarantee exceptional quality, a cheap price tag definitely guarantees a poor cup.

We strongly believe that authentic tea shouldn't be reserved exclusively for the ultra-luxury market.

Our mission is to find the perfect "sweet spot"—sourcing premium teas that deliver outstanding, authentic flavor and exceptional value for your everyday enjoyment.
