Loose Leaf, With Real Jasmine Flowers

Snow White is a loose leaf tea. Unlike our rolled Dragon Pearl, the leaves stay open and natural.

It's blended with dried jasmine flowers, so you can see the jasmine right there in the leaf. Many people like that. The flowers make it feel fresh and inviting, and they look lovely in a glass.

Why Our Jasmine Tea Is So Fragrant — The Scenting

The aroma doesn't come from oils or flavouring. It comes from scenting (窨, xūn).

Fresh jasmine blossoms are layered with the green tea over several nights. The leaf slowly drinks in the fragrance.

Each round is one "scenting". Snow White is scented 7 times, so the aroma is full and lasts across several cups.

The dried jasmine flowers blended through the finished tea add to that soft, sweet scent.

🍵 Brewing Guide

How to Brew Snow White

This is a delicate green tea carrying real jasmine fragrance.

Brew it gently. Never blast it with boiling water.

The Vessel

A glass infuser is ideal. The glass lets you watch the flower dancing.

A porcelain gaiwan also works well. It gives you good control over temperature.

If you use a gaiwan, lift the lid during brewing. Don't let the tea stew under a closed lid.

Avoid unglazed zisha clay pots for jasmine tea. The porous clay drinks in the fragrance.

The Method

  • Temperature: 80–85°C. Never fully boiling. Let boiled water stand 2–3 minutes first.
  • Ratio: about 3g to 150ml. Lighter? Use 2g. Fuller? Up to 4g.
  • First steep: 5–8 seconds only. Pour fast.
  • Later steeps: add about 5 seconds each round.
  • Re-steep: 3–4 times. The fragrance stays lively.

Common Mistakes

  • ❌ Boiling water. The fastest way to lose the jasmine and turn the cup bitter.
  • ❌ Brewing under a closed lid. This stews the tea and flattens the aroma.
  • ❌ Long steeps. Over-extracts the green tea and turns it astringent. Keep them short.
  • ❌ Zisha clay pots. They absorb the fragrance. Use glass or porcelain.
📦 Storage & Care

Storage Care for Snow White

Jasmine tea keeps its fragrance well when stored simply.

It also picks up other smells easily. Keep that in mind.

  • Room temperature is fine. Keep it cool, dry and dark. A pantry shelf away from sunlight is ideal. No need to refrigerate.
  • Keep it airtight. Reseal between sessions. For longer storage, a Tea Bag Sealer helps keep the pack fresh.
  • Away from light and air. An opaque tin or sealed jar protects colour and fragrance best.
  • Keep it separate. Store away from coffee, spices and anything strongly scented.
🌿 The Origins

The Origins of Our Snow White Jasmine Tea

  • Home of Chinese Jasmine — Hengxian, Guangxi: Our jasmine is grown in Hengxian (横县) in Guangxi, south-west China — widely known as the "Jasmine Capital of China". Its warm climate, gentle hills and steady rainfall give the flowers a rich, clean fragrance, and local jasmine tea holds a recognised geographical-indication status.
  • The Leaf: A green tea base, scented to carry a soft, everyday jasmine fragrance.
  • The Craft — Scenting (窨): The tea is scented with fresh, in-season jasmine over 7 rounds. Each round layers fresh blossoms with the leaf, then the flowers are sifted out. It's slow, seasonal work, and it's the reason the aroma runs deep.
  • VGT Sourcing: For 18 years, Valley Green Tea has been a trusted place to buy authentic loose leaf Chinese tea online in Australia. We buy new-season stock and air-freight it fresh to Sydney. Explore the rest of our jasmine tea collection.
