This is a Chinese Gaiwan of a uniqie glaze called Ji Lan (霁蓝). Ji Lan glazing technique was first invented during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It is characterized by a deep ocean like light or dark blue, perfectly clean, even and stable. Some describes it as blue gem like bright and stable as blue gem.
The Gaiwan is made of a light blue Ji Lan glaze, decorated by an art work of an up facing heron, symbolizing elegance and uplifting spirit. It is a work of ultimate elegance, and fine Chinese ceramic at its peak.
