About Da Hong Pao

Da Hong Pao belongs to the Oolong/Wulong tea family.

It is named after its appearance—bold, reddish, stretched tea leaves. Often celebrated as one of the top ten Chinese teas, it was historically reserved as a ‘Royal Tea’ due to its very low production yields and incredibly rich flavor profile. Because it is grown in the mineral-rich, rugged terrain of the Wu Yi Mountains, it belongs to an elite category of Oolongs known as "Wu Yi Rock Tea" (Yan Cha).

A perfectly brewed cup of Da Hong Pao is lightly reddish, clear, and bright. The flavor is a beautiful balancing act: highly fragrant and mildly roasted (almost nutty), yet incredibly refreshing and tenderly sweet, leaving a long, lingering aftertaste.
