Chinese Gong Fu Gaiwan tea set Jun Kiln-green

This is a ceramic gaiwan set in a deep, living green — made from Jun Kiln ware, one of the famous wares of the Song dynasty. The colour isn't painted on. It forms in the heat of the kiln, in a process called yaobian (kiln transformation), so no two pieces ever come out the same. Yours will be one of a kind.

The surface is smooth as porcelain, with no crackle — just a clean, glossy green that shifts a little as the light moves. It's high-fired and food-safe for hot tea, and it makes a quietly special tea set gift for anyone who likes things with a bit of history behind them.

This is a full gong fu set: a 150ml gaiwan to brew in, a fairness cup to share from, a strainer to catch the leaves, and six cups for the table. Everything you need for gong fu cha with family or friends.

What tea to drink with this set

The glazed inside is neutral and won't hold flavour, so you can brew almost anything and switch freely. It's happiest with lighter, fragrant teas:

Black tea and everyday pu-erh work too. For darker, aged teas, clay teaware suits them better.

Best / good  Works  Avoid

Ceramic gaiwan — neutral and quick to cool, so it brews delicate teas without stewing them. Best for green tea, white tea, yellow tea and young raw pu-erh.

Ceramic teapot — holds heat a little longer. A versatile all-rounder, best for black tea and relaxed everyday brewing.

Zisha clay teapot — retains heat and seasons over time, deepening the brew. Best for roasted oolong, black tea, ripe pu-erh and hei cha. Use one tea per pot, as the clay holds onto flavour.

Duanni clay is a porous type of zisha clay that breathes more than most. It softens astringency, which makes it the one clay that suits young raw pu-erh as well as lighter teas.
