09 new season tea!

Da Hong Pao belongs to Oolong/Wulong tea family. It is named after its appearance – big red stretched tea leaves. It is one of the top ten Chinese teas and was once portrayed as ‘Royal tea’ as a result of its low production and rich flavor. Because it is produced in Wu Yi area’s rocky mountains, it therefore also belongs to a special group of teas called Wu Yi rock Tea. Its brew is lightly reddish brown in color. Terms used to describe its favor include fragrant, roasted, nutty and tenderly sweet, followed by a lingering after taste. A nice cup of Da Hong Pao is pure indulgence.

There have been some recent claims that the Wu Yi tea has super fat burning power. We believe that it is evident that teas (especially green, Oolong/Wulong and Pu-erh tea) have slimming effects. The ‘ultimate fat burner’ claim is however irresponsibly exaggerated. For more info with regard to tea and weight and some clarifications, please visit: Tea & Weight.

Da Hong Pao tea can't be tightly vacuum packed as some other teas (ie the leaves crush and break under too much pressure) and therefore present with  more "bulk". More care is required in the packaging process to maintain quality. As such we only offer one size - 50 gm  for standard orders. However special arrangements can be made for larger packaging where required in support of bulk orders. Please advise if this is required.

We offer Premium and Exclusive quality grades currently. The exclusive is the level above which a regular tea drinker from the region where the tea was produced would not easily distinguish further improvement in quality.

We ship using Australia Post and advise quotes and expected delivery times with each purchase . This is obtained directly from Australia Post's web site during the final stages of the purchase-checkout process and based on total weight of the package in the cart.
