Tea and caffeine

PDF Print E-mail

A normal cup of tea  contains about on quarter of the caffeine  contained in the equivalent volume of coffee. Note that this applies to all teas (green, oolong , black etc).

Since caffeine infuses early, there is a procedure available for for those wishing to minimise their caffeine intake :

  • Rinse the tea leaves with hot water
  • Dispose this liquid which contains the majority of the caffeine
  • Brew the remaining tea leaves ( 2 -3 minutes before drinking).
